Reviews

I play very little guitar, if only I would practice more.. maybe I would be better by now, but, I spend most of my time playing the flutes (traverso, boehm, alto recorder) So, my guitar sight reading is very poor, but I can see myself playing some of the melodies in this book, thanks to the TABS. If you are a guitarist you probably will be able to play the whole book in one session. At least go through most of them. and see from there. The arrangements of the pieces are done, my guess to be played for the most part by late beginner, early intermediate, Some pieces look quite challenging though. As for the flute part they all sit in the middle voice mainly, very few over to top high notes, the highest I saw is E" , I didn't see low C or Bb. I think I could play many of them right away. After I play this evening I may edit this review if I feel I am missing something. I bought this book with the hope of playing for fun with a guitarist in informal settings. Get together or parties and I think this is perfect for it. You can certainly seriously practice several of the pieces in this book for a recital or a gig. A beautiful selection which will please the audience and the players. A good addition to the book by Peter Draper.which I love as well. There are only two things I didn't like, which I always read on other reviews for music books: the binding, I wish had a spiral instead. Since the book is thick it will be difficult to keep it open. and a separate flute part, would have been awesome, cause I would have been able to flute with from the separate insert and have a laugh looking at the guitarist trying to sight read and keep the book open at the same time. Too bad! Anyway I see no reason for giving a bad review over such things. It is a mistake of the publisher not the author. Beautiful arrangements. A must have for the guitarist and/or flutist. Get it!Edit: There are some very high notes, (few) and some very tricky guitar parts but over all this book is a lot of fun to play. and practice with I will be ordering the Big Book of Baroque Flute and Guitar Duets by the same author. Thank you!!
